Thanks to the popularity of itsBee City USAinitiative , which encourages communities to make pollinator habitat , the non-profit-making environmental group The Xerces Society createdBee Campus USA . The curriculum helps colleges create sustainable home ground for pollinators on their campuses . The program , which launched in 2015 , has grown to admit 79 register bee campus nationally .
Campuses are locate in 33 country , according to the Bee City USA website , from Maine in the Northeast to Florida in the Southeast to California , Oregon and Washington on the West Coast , with many points in between . The University of California , Davis , was certified as a Bee Campus USA site earlier this year .
