Yet dropping everything you know and get down over again is n’t a choice most people would make and we almost did n’t make it ourselves . We left a paid - off homestead , a profitable little industrial plant nursery , a rophy of friend and a unspoiled Christian church , family , and the comforts of the first populace .
And I would do it all again .
I never tasted exemption until we walked aside from “ the land of the free . ” Freedom to build what you wish , exemption to plant corn whiskey in your front yard , freedom to live without a million regulations .
It ’s a foreign spirit . Sure , things do n’t always run smoothly and getting a washing machine remediate might take three calendar week – but who manage ? I can tear out the plumbery and install compost toilets and no one will visit the place or ticket us .

But beyond that perk , I am finally getting to work with tropic crop seriously . I have helped many multitude learn to garden in Florida and the US , but the research I am doing now could aid in some of the poorest nations on terra firma . I hope the Lord use some of my ideas to sign others .
Right now I ’m still learn and making lots of mistakes , but over clip I will collect data point , try newfangled ideas , and habituate low - tech solutions that could be applied in Africa , Asia , the Caribbean , and elsewhere in South America .
And we ’re have a mass of playfulness . Losing a motorcar or a few tendon is no big hatful , right ?
Today we ’re run to have a little family vacation and enjoy nature . The gas is off so we ’re cooking outside on an open flak , as you may see in the video I posted last night … but we have great deal of fruit to pluck and a beautiful creek go out back where we can go swimming .
I still remember how much fun I had making my annunciation after arriving :
