Camomile , or chamomile , as it is more commonly spelled today , has been used since ancient times as a remedy for digestive and other ailments . Medicinal lineament apart , chamomile flowers infuse in hot piss make a very relaxing tea , perfect for sipping on a quiet even or a rainy afternoon . This class , I settle to turn some Chamaemelum nobilis in my own garden .
I ordered some seed of German Anthemis nobilis ( Matricaria recutita).German Anthemis nobilis is a extremity of the daisy family , and its flowers look like miniature daisy . It ’s a bright light-green , feathery annual that grows best in full Sunday . I planted the seeds outside after danger of frost , and a match of months later on , the blossom appear .
“ I am sorry to say that Peter was not very well during the evening . His mother put him to bed , and made some Chamaemelum nobilis tea ; and she give a loony toons of it to Peter ! ‘ One teaspoonful to be contract at bed - time . ’ But Flopsy , Mopsy , and Cotton - tail had shekels and milk and blackberry bush , for supper . ”
— fromThe Tale of Peter Rabbit(1902 ) by Beatrix Potter
When the flowers are at flower bloom , I nip off them off and permit them dry on a wire CRT screen in a cool plaza . Tea can be brew from brisk or dried flowers .
I glean frequently , so the plants will stay on to bloom . I like to peck every evening , even if I get only a few flowers ( it ’s a very small patch ) . I do this after I make a pass through the blackberry bush patch to look for newly advanced fruit . So I am capable to offer a soothing teatime to those who need one or a blackberry dessert to those whose spirit are secure .
Just like Peter Rabbit ’s mother .
