Just be aware of the difference between   intersectional and tree paeony when it comes to the actual division process .

Look intersectionals in the eyes before making divides

Intersectional , orItoh , peonies ( named for Toichi Itoh , their original disseminator ) can be cut apart at the most narrow connections between larger small-arm of ascendant , each at least 6 inches long .

Cut the intersectional at a thin point between big sections , as you would if you want just a bit of a big peppiness root in the kitchen .

As you visualize the cuts , remember that intersectionals send up fresh root every spring , so they have eye like herbaceous paeony do . Leave at least three eye on each new division to ensure stem and flowers the following year .
