I take myprunersand cut all that dried up stuff back .   Sometimes I have to gently freestanding vines that are wrapping around each other .

I dispatch the drained leaves as well .   It is looking tidier already but there is nothing to help keep it bind up to the trellis .   This is where some strips of old pantyhose can come in ready to hand like I employ when tying up my climbing roses , I show them in this post . tick HERE

I just wrap up mine about the trellis . I may come up back in and decide to do a harder prune on one of the vines coming from the background .

When I search closely , I saw five main vine coming up from the root . The areas I know will blossom are much higher up the trellis . I can select one vine and resolve to cut it back to about 12 inch from the ground to advance blooms lower on the trellis . Since I have other flowers farm around my clematis base , that could be a barren since those bloom of youth may not be that visible .

This weak prune cleans up the clematis for bloom clip and present you a chance to really calculate closely and make certain all is healthy and effective to go .   Before you recognize it your clematis will be filled with glorious blooms and be tidy too .
