Jewel’s Peony Collection

Today we ’re visiting with Jewel Barkley .

The delineation I have include are from my flower garden in Sea Girt , New Jersey . I have been growingpeoniesfor about 10 years . Peonies are my passion , and after meeting Kathleen Gagan , the enthusiastic possessor ofPeony ’s Envyin Bernardsville , New Jersey , I knew I had to try my hand atgrowing peonies ! I primitively had more paeony when I dwell in Chatham , New Jersey , but have recently moved to Sea Girt , where I have a much smaller property and , therefore fewer peonies .

give thanks you for permit me to share picture of my slight peony garden , which still bring me great joy !

Intersectional peonies are hybrids between tree peonies , which have woody stems , and the herbaceous paeony that die back to the terra firma each wintertime . The hybrids have great vigor , and they meld the large flowers and panoptic colouration range of tree peonies with the longer - live blooms of herbaceous peonies .

Look at the sizing of this herbaceous peony bloom !

This intensely colored red herbaceous paeony has a type of bloom called an anemone material body , with normal petals around the edge and smaller petaloids filling the centre of the bloom .

take note the discrete metal band hold this crimson peony upright . Many peonies have such huge flowers that they need a petty help stand up straight .

Now THAT is a smart blossom ! This is a semi - double build , with extra layer of flower petal , but there are still some seeable yellow stamen in the center of the bloom .

This row of gorgeous peonies in front of a hedging looks perfect .
