Skipping the mums, this garden uses perennials for long-lasting, beautiful container plantings
Today ’s picture hail from Cheri Barnett :
In 2015 , I was inspired by aFine Gardeningarticle recommend that lecturer create pin container without using mom . With this in mind , I walk around my Toronto ( Zone 5 ) backyard several times and proceeded to excavate out a piece of this and a circumstances of something else . It took me a while because I was using what I already had growing and needed to visualise the fill in container as I go along . Creating these fall container was definitely a plus mental process .
Each fall I would place them on display and then either stack them against my fencing or put them inside my heated garden shed for the winter months . In fountain , I would fertilize them , then put them on my back pack of cards , watering them regularly . They originate well and look outstanding throughout our growing time of year . However , after three years , my initial containers became overgrown , so I replant the perennial back into my garden .
In August 2017 , it was prison term to begin over and reprize this challenging procedure once again . After take a well flavour around my garden areas , I decided to practice not only what I had growing in my garden but also to purchase a few novel perennials for more variety . The results for their 2d year can be seen below . My two favourite container have the variegated sedum and the beg workforce Funka . With more demarcation and interest , they hold my regard longer .
A tall sedum ( Sedum‘Autumn Joy ’ , zone 3–11 ) mix with a shorter sedum ( possiblySedum‘Dazzleberry ’ , Zones 4–9 ) and ahosta(Zones 3–9 ) .
The same container seen from above .
Tall variegated sedum ( Sedum‘Autumn Charm ’ , Zones 3–11 ) with attractively contrasting golden creeping Jenny ( Lysimachia nummularia ‘ Aurea’,Zones 4–8 ) and a purple - leaved genus Heuchera ( Heucherahybrid , Zones 4–9 ) .
Another position of the same container .
Hosta‘Praying Hands’(Zones 3–9 ) put up the centerpiece for this container , backed up by a full-bodied multifariousness of leaf .
