Today ’s photos are from Phillip Oliver in Florence , Alabama . Phillip says,“We moved into our mansion in 1992 and the attribute was pretty much a blank ticket . There were some former fruit trees and a few skillful dogwood tree but otherwise it was all grass and took forever to pout . I had already been bitten by the horticulture bug when we lived in a belittled apartment with a postage cast sized garden . We coif out instantly , not really be intimate that much but con as we went along .
“ We made the fault of trying to do everything at once . If I could start out over today , there would be several things I would do other than . I want antique rosiness and at the clip , there was a lot of sunshine since there were no matured trees . Now , almost 20 twelvemonth later , the trees are ripe and we have more wraith than sun . This has affected the roses and perennial but I ca n’t bring myself to cut down a perfectly healthy tree . We also have a with child collection of hydrangeas and camelia . My problem is that I love everything and ca n’t resist a new plant life . I ’ve just ram everything together and I ’m always move affair around to make space for new plant .
These exposure are from the garden wall area . I build this paries five years ago from cement block and stucco . The industrial plant in the foreground includeCornus kousa‘Wolf Eyes ’ ( USDA Hardiness Zones 5 - 8) , Japanese roof iris ( Iris tectorum , Zones 5 - 9 ) , ‘ Plectrophenax nivalis ’ oakleaf hydrangea ( Hydrangea quercifolia‘Snowflake ’ , Zones 5 - 9 ) , and the rosebush ‘ Mrs. B.R. Ca nt ’ ( zone 5 - 9 ) . ”
