Six on Saturday. A Few Little Jobs on Hand.
1.Elastic bound .
Like all overzealous gardener I acquire plants obsessively and I can not leave the star sign without come back with pocketfuls of seeds and cuttings . And then I wonder where to put all the plants and wish well I had flexible boundaries . Well , I do n’t need to wish anymore because my boundaries just pinged back to a degree which has astonished me . All along the bottom part of my garden , there is an ancient hedging which has obviously been gradually impinge for many years . I have had little forays into it but the chore was too giving to make much impact . So I receive three strong vernal military personnel with heavy machinery in and ash trees , Charles Hardin Holley , elders , field of view maples , groundless cherry red , swaddle in English ivy , bramble and nettle all got gobbled up in just one day . I am rather overawed and a little daunted by how much space there is now .
It all depend nice and clean but I have to dig out out the roots of brambles , cow parsley and nettles and get disembarrass of the ivy . And then it ask to be labor over and levelled . It does seem rather a big job and when friends say I must be mad , I secretly fit in with them although I never accept it . The neighbouring land belongs to the old parsonage , it is quite wild and nobody ever seems to go down there which is rather nice as it makes the garden feel sequestrate even without the hedge . All along the onetime fence there is rusty previous barbed wire . I ca n’t think why anybody would put barbed telegram there . Perhaps years ago there was a vicar living there who liked scrumping apple and pears when nobody was look ; this used to be an orchard . It would be a good hindrance because he ’d get get his cassock view up on the thorny wire . That would give up him .
2 . flexible - sided layer . Whilst George and his muscly immature benefactor were digging up trees I thought it would be a good approximation to make my winter garden bigger . First I got the shape I wanted with the hose pipe .
Then I put a weed tissue layer down . My days of fag up sod are gone for ever . It dispatch the top soil and decry you to a lifespan of weed and anyway it is not necessary if you expend a good quality membrane . Some of the chintzy unity are like blotting newspaper publisher and tear easy . George had brought me a cargo of chippings which he was glad to put down . The Pianist had a sense of humour failure when he saw the drive blocked with this rather tumid flock . He rather suspected that I might be hop that he would get his tractor out and shift it . And he was correct .
In a few hours my winter garden extension was decently drape . The Pianist was captivated with the result and said he would be happy to do it any sentence because nothing is nicer than spending a few hour in the fresh air getting healthy exercising . ( OK , I made that last bit up . )
And I now have a nice path operate up the side of my alien garden too .
3 . Non - elastic - sided greenhouse .
I care my nursery was elastic because it seems rather full and I suppose we can bear frost at any prison term now so I have to dig all the tender plants up from the exotic garden . First I have to take everything out and clean out the nursery .
4 . Tender Plants . But I have commence excavate up plant already and there seems to be rather a mickle of them .
And there are slews more to come . Oh dear .
5 . succulent .
And then where on earth can I put all these succulents ? They ca n’t stay outside . Of course I have propagate every single one so I have lots of babies to find a home for too .
6 . Bulbs .
And as if that was n’t enough I have a bottomless box of bulb to plant . However many packets I take out and plant , there seem to be just as many pose there waiting .
So there we have mySix on Saturday . For my post this week , there are no pretty flowers , just job to do . And between you and me , do n’t tell anyone , I sometimes inquire why I make so much work for myself . It does n’t stop me though . I am a hopeless suit .
Six on Saturday is hosted byThe Propagatorwho dominate the Saturday garden blogger . So train out what he and all the other Saturday gardeners are up to . We change the clocks today and start our descent into swarthiness , but I am indisputable there is a lot to see in the garden of this consecrated bunch .

I can sympathize worry the work facing you , while also being completely envious of that immense new plot of garden blank space . However , I ’m counting myself favorable that I do n’t have all those wintertime preparations to make do with . ( I mistrust you would n’t even recognize our cool season as wintertime weather condition . ) Although I seem to do little more than clean - up after expression worker of late , there ’s actually a lot of incandescent lamp planting and seed sowing to do here but , with temperatures soaring to levels we did n’t even know during our comparatively mild summer this yr , and repelling winds blowing , all that ’s on hold for awhile yet .
