We ’re in Simcoe , Ontario , today , where Linda Walsh is sharing photos of a beautiful garden that has been almost 40 years in the making .
Part of having a fledged garden is incredible mature tree specimen — like this absolutely breathtaking ‘ Suminagashi ’ Japanese maple ( Acerpalmatum‘Suminagashi ’ , Zones 5–9 ) . AllJapanese mapleshave greatfall color , but this variety take it to another level .
In the spring , aredbud(Cerciscanadensis , Zones 5–9 ) show off with tiny pink flower .
In this view out into the garden from a distance , a PJM rhododendron ( Rhododendronhybrid , Zones 4–8 ) catches the heart with a Brobdingnagian display of pink flowers .
A Nipponese maple grows at the edge of one of the koiponds . The white flowers in the background are from a floweringdogwood(Cornusflorida , Zones 5–9 ) .
Theflowering treeson the left with the yellow flower is the aboriginal cucumber magnolia ( Magnoliaacuminata , Zones 5–9 ) .
Weeping cop beech tree ( Fagussylvatica , Zones 4–7 ) has dark leaves that direct contrast with those around it .
Lacecap hydrangeas ( Hydrangeamacrophylla , Zones 5–9 ) have more - delicate salad days than the mophead type .
Annabelle hydrangea(Hydrangeaarboresecens‘Annabelle ’ , Zones 3–8 ) is a twofold - blossom selection of the species that isnativeto much of eastern North America .
