Digging in Georgia cadaver has reminded my of one affair that ’s really been decent about being back in Florida : backbone !
I know … people complain about the sand here . However , it ’s truly a boon for the impatient nurseryman . you could stab a LOT in a little period of sentence , making getting to China that much easygoing than it is in stiff soils .
When I used to live in Tennessee , I had hard and bouldered clay . I had almost forget the botheration . certain , stiff has its own reward . It holds wet and mineral , plus give up you to line pool and dye all your wear rust - red . But still … it ’s heavy to dig .
This last week when I was in Georgia , I decide to put in a diminished garden with my young niece and nephew . I had bring dome to engraft , I had my Clarington Forge coon and fork , and there was a skillful gay spot … so all was well .
Or so I think .
Once I started trying to grasp , I realized we were in trouble . Even with forged psyche and sharpen brand , the puppet literally bounced off the primer .
I do n’t mean figuratively : I DO mean literally .
The tools … bounced … off … the … ground .
The soil there was harder than it was in Tennessee . My guess is because it was a concrete - like mixture of remains and grit together . Another trouble : beneath the top inch or two of wet ground after a pelting , the ground beneath was hard and teetotal . Not good .
Since I did n’t have any dynamite , I decide it was time to take a trip to Lowes World to see if I could find something to hack at the ground .
As a side musical note : before leaving Florida , I tried to packmy amazing Easy Digging grub hoebut it would n’t fit in the back of the car . I remember it would have done marvelously ( and its long handle was more ergonomic than what I ended up buying ) but there was no way to throng it without permit it string up out of the side of the motorcar .
The police hate thing like that , so or else I bought one of these :
Tomorrow I ’ll show you what else we planted . This modest suburban backyard will never be the same .
