Veggies and flowers work together in a productive, beautiful garden
I ’ve been a devotee ofFine Gardeningfor well over a decade now , and I ’m very delirious to finally submit a shot of my garden for your Garden Photo of the Day .
My name is Allison Vallin Kostovick , and I ’ve been an constitutional nurseryman in Maine for the retiring 20 year . Over that time , I ’ve slow been on a quest to make my very own secret garden nestled among the Sir Henry Wood . I love practicing fellow traveler planting . Not only is it effective in terminal figure of blighter control , but the interplanting of veggies with herb and flush creates instant garden magic . Add in some trellises , and you ’re now transported into another world .
Allison ’s garden is pack to the rim with plants . They work together much and visually , and the abundant treillage add another dimension to the whole garden .
Who would n’t need to take a minute to sit in the middle of this paradise ?

It is n’t just vegetable that come from the garden . I bang Allison ’s thought of roll up flowers in a basket like this to create a small tapis of glorious colour .
Cosmos ( Cosmos bipinnatus , annual ) is a Greco-Roman easy - to - grow annual beloved by pollinators and gardener likewise . The cupful - build form on the right is a relatively new multifariousness of this old - fashioned works called ‘ Cupcake ’ .
Zinnias ( Zinnia elegans , yearly ) belong in every garden ! They are so easy and so coloured .
Some plants do double tariff . schnittlaugh ( Allium schoenoprasum , geographical zone 5–11 ) are of line wonderful to use in the kitchen , and the pink flowers make a great display in the garden as well .
In the foreground , the ashen peak with dark spots are another great ornamental comestible : fava bean . The beans are delicious , of class , but the flowers are beautiful and , even better , sense wonderful .
