A DIY landscape
Hi ! My name is Wendy Blair , and I ’m a Master Gardener from Albuquerque , New Mexico . My family moved here from Los Angeles in 2011 and buy a house on an Akka North ABQ . The house was plunk in the centre of the lot with very petty AMEX appeal or planting . I ’ve always loved gardening but had no idea what an amazing ( but challenging ) clime I was moving to .
In the 12 years we ’ve lived here , we have entirely change our landscape . With favorable reception from local agencies , we diverted an arroyo that go through our country . This enable us to install a nice - size grand space . We ’ve put inpergolas , alawn , acutting garden , a pool , a chicken coop , a smallorchard , a lunar month garden , a raisedvegetable garden , as well as a Japanese - theme garden . The gem of our family is the Spanish - theme courtyard we build up in 2017 . It has a gorgeous fountain , a fireplace , a grapevine - cover pergola , and a pizza pie oven .
My married man is a declarer , and with the help of our kids , we have done most of the construction on thehardscapeourselves . We ’re big DIYers ! I have in person done all the plant choose and planting / digging . We now have a four - season landscape unadulterated withconifers , shade Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree , fruit trees , and lots of gorgeousflowering shrubsand perennials . My favorite are rose , hydrangeas , andpeonies ! I ’ve also gotten our distance certified as a backyard wildlife habitat . We think it ’s beautiful , and I hope you do too !
