Some favorite plants and combinations

I thought I ’d send more photos to you this good morning from my garden in Zone 6A in southeastern Pennsylvania . Summers are hot and humid here , and we deal with dry enchantment . Having gardened here for 43 year , I still enjoy learn and trying raw plants and combinations . It ’s satisfying to give ideas and selective information to the newer gardeners among us . I hope they ’ll find some utile nugget within thissubmission .
April - bloomingRhododendronschlippenbachia(Zones 4–7 ) is fairly fragile and hard to find .
Nepeta‘Cat ’s Pajamas ’ ( Zones 3–8 ) isdrought tolerantonce established ( these are freshly planted ) , with its husky , long - live on bloom for full Lord’s Day . Deadheadfor repeat albeit less flamboyant rosiness .
This depicts a placid clip in spring in my sunny repeated garden . Piceapungens‘Globosa ’ ( dwarf blue spruce , Zones 2–7 ) providesyear - round interestwith its color and grain . The colour of the emerging and ingeminate deciduous shrubs ofSpirea‘Goldmound ’ ( zone 4–8 ) leafage aid .
Spring compounding for Dominicus : midget lilac ‘ Miss Kim’(Syringapatula‘Miss Kim ’ , Zones 3–8 ) andAllium‘Purple Sensation ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) blooming at the same time in late May . Stachys‘Helen von Stein ’ ( zone 4–8 ) and bright yellowLysimachianummalaria‘Aurea ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) are growing asground covers .
Eleuthrococcus sieboldianus‘Variegatus ’ ( five - fingered aralia , Zones 4–9 ) is a deciduous , thorny , variegated shrub to light up the shadiness . It gives rilievo in thewoodlandor any umbrageous field from the dominate William Green of summertime .
Lilium(lilies , Zones 4–8 ) predominate in the sun inJuly .
Here is a colorful combination of variegatedLiriope(Zones 4–8 ) andStachysminima(Zones 5–9 ) in July . Both are low growing for the front of a sunny margin .
Plant for semi - shaded quoin of patio : Hydrangea macrophylla(Zones 5–9 ) . Thecontaineron the soil is recovering in a cervid - proof location after being eaten to stubs at the front door by deer . Yes , frustration and disappointment must be accepted as part of this endeavor . Hone your ability to pivot and adapt !
Hydrangea paniculata‘Bobo ’ ( Zones 4–8),Phloxpaniculata(Zones 4–8 ) , and waning daylilies(Hemerocallishybrid , Zones 3–9 ) dominate the August repeated garden . ‘ Bobo ’ is adwarf hydrangeaand can be easily size - contained by sleeping other leap rationalise to 3 foot by 3 feet .
Containers ofannualshelp the want of color in theAugust garden . Here , a tuteur of viningMandevilla(Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) is in the foreground . take heat- and humidity - lovingtropicalannuals that will not discontinue by July is helpful .
